The History of General Mills, They’re Not Just Cheerios

December 11, 2021 By Contributor

General Mills is one of the most renowned brands in the world. Colloquially referred to as simply GM, they’re the maker of some of the most deliciously iconic cereals. These include Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Wheaties. Although Cheerios may be their most popular cereal, it’s not their first. GM’s first wheat-cereal was Wheaties, dating back to 1924. Then it was called Washburns Whole Wheat Flake. General Mills doesn’t just sell food products. GM also sells products in several key consumer categories. These categories also include snacks, toys, and clothing. Among the brands currently or once owned by General Mill brands are Parker Brother Monopoly, Nerf, Lacoste clothing, Red Lobster seafood restaurant, Eddie Bauer outdoors men clothing, and the Olive Garden Italian food eatery.
