Tesla Inc. Is Ordered to Pay $137 Million After Losing Discrimination Lawsuit

October 10, 2021 By Contributor

Owen Diaz won a jury verdict in a federal trial against Tesla for racial discrimination. Diaz filed a lawsuit in San Francisco claiming racial harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, threats of violence, retaliation, and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Diaz provided that Tesla was aware of the mistreatment creating an abusive work environment and turned a blind eye to the abuse. And that Tesla refused to take corrective action. Diaz’s claim that Tesla failed to protect him is supported by the fact some of the offending employees were given promotions and not disciplined or terminated.
