How US Schools Punish Black Kids

October 9, 2020 By Contributor

Education is stated to be the great equalizer. The idea being it empowers those who would otherwise be relegated to a life of poverty by giving them instead an opportunity to excel. However racial disparity continues to undermine the notion of education being the great equalizer. Black kids on average live in the most economically Tax depressed school districts. And since most U.S schools are funded in part by real estate tax, the lack of tax revenue results in black schools being grossly under funded.

Sadly, racial disparity extends beyond funding of schools, including the harsh way which blacks are disciplined for violations of school codes of conduct. Blacks are twice as likely to be suspended for the same type of infractions often dismissed as being childhood antics when committed by whites. America is at a pivotal point in time. With the Impending presidential election the choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is effectively a choice between good and evil, life or death , compassion or hatred.
