An American Gansta and bookmaker in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood Ellsworth Raymond “Bumpy” Johnson born October 31, 1905, Charleston, SC was a giant in his own right. An associate of Charles “Lucky” Luciano and what would become later known as the Genovese crime family Bumpy’s life and career has inspired television and films.
