Kim Jong Un – Reckless or Measured Leader of N.Korea

Since the passing of Kim Jong -il in 2011, Kim Jong un has struggled  to carry on the legacy of his father while at the same time seeking admission into the the international community. The North Korean regime has been relentless in  their pursuit of nuclear weapons.  It is purported that as a result of North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons the United States along with her  allies have enacted sanctions against North Korea. But that is’nt entirely true.

The sanctions were  partly  enacted against North Korea for the primary purpose of diminishing their means of self-defense and breaking the will of the North Korean’s by depriving them of global economic participation. The treatment of the North Koreans is analogous to the treatment of disenfranchised gpeople  demanding existence  on their own terms.

We by no means sanction , condone nor endorse the North Korean reign , this is just a caustionary note. We must  reframe our expectation of who can and can’t have nuclear weapons. The idea that only western sanctioned nations can have nukes are ideas  as dated as slavery and Jim Crow laws. The bottomline is , weather we like it or not  North Korea has nukes , and that’s just a plain fact. But they also have a shared intrest in self preservation which is only accomplished through peaceful discourse.
